Co-curricular - NSS

Launched on 24 September 1969 by Dr. V.K. R.V. Rao, who was the Educational Minister at that time, the National Service Scheme (NSS) is an addition of activities in the higher education system of India with the aim of allowing students to develop their personality by providing community service while they are studying.

Students under the NSS must put in 2 years of services along with their studies. Under the scheme, students must provide 120 hours of service every year as well as participate in at least one special camp programme.

OBJECTIVES

  • To help students develop a democratic attitude and leadership qualities.
  • Helping students share responsibilities and develop abilities towards group living.
  • To help develop civic and social responsibilities.
  • To help students understand their roles in the community.
  • Helping students develop a capacity to handle emergency situations and natural disasters.
  • Help gain skills for organising participation to the community.
  • To help students make use of their skills and knowledge to find practical solutions to community and individual problems.
  • To point out the problems and requirements of the community and help in solving them in case any problem arises.
  • To know about the type of community they work in.
  • To help students practice towards national interrogation and social harmony.

NSS - 2023 - 2024

NSS Orientation Programme (2023 – 2024)

Our School NSS Orientation Programme for the academic year 2023 – 2024 will be held on Friday, 4th August 2023 at 1.45 P.M in Audio Visual Hall. Mr. Aaron Alfred Emmanuel will be the new Programme Officer (PO). Our School Correspondent, Mr. Regis Fredrick will deliver the Welcome address and honour the guests. School Medical Director, Dr. Zita Fredrick and Principal, Mrs. Alphonse Hilda will light the kuthuvilakku. There will be a special address by Mr. Madivanan, State Awardee, NSS Programme Coordinator, NSS CELL, Puducherry. Mr. D. Satishkumar, National Awardee, NSS, State NSS Officer will be the Chief guest. All the formar NSS Programmer Officers will be felicitated in this programme. Vote of Thanks will be delivered by Mr. Aaron Alfred Emmanuel, NSS Programme Officer. Master of Ceremony for this programme will be Felicia Dharshini of XI E. This programme will be attended by all the NSS Volunteer students.

NSS - Special Camp (7.2.2022 to 13.2.2022)

NSS - Special Camp | DAY 1

Dr. Kulandaisamy, State NSS Officer, Puducherry was invited as special guest for the inaguration of the Special camp on 7.2.2022. He was felicitated by our Correspondent, Mr. Regis Fredrick . Our School NSS Program Co-ordinator Mr. Mohanradje, Mr. Natarajan, Mrs. Sangeetha and Mrs. Arulmozhi were also present. All the NSS volunteers attended the camp.

8.2.2022(Forenoon) - Dengue Awareness Programme was conducted by Dr. Gaurang Narayan for NSS volunteers. 8.2.2022(Afternoon) - Mr. Hemant Kumar, Our Yoga teacher explained about the importance of Yoga to the NSS volunteers .

9.2.2022 (Forenoon)- Our drawing master Mr. Saravanacoumar conducted drawring competition for our NSS voluteers. 9.2.2022 (Afternoon) - Dr. Eric Osben explained the importance of Social Service to the NSS volunteers.

10.2.2022 (Forenoon) - Dr. Zita Fredrick spoke about 'Health Issues in Youth'. 10.2.2022 (Afternoon) - Election Awareness Programme was organized by Dr. V. Govindasamy, Nodal Officer (SVEEP). 10.2.2022 (Evening) - Rally was organized to create awareness among people to protect themselves from Corona.

11.2.2022(Forenoon) - Ground activities like planting trees in our School ground was undertaken by the volunteers.
11.2.2022(Afternoon) - Dr. T. Vijayapriya, IGMCRI spoke about Eye donation and its importance.
11.2.2022(Evening) - Raw food competition was organized for NSS volunteers
